PROGRAM MONITOR JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY
Connect Detroit is seeking summer staff support for the Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) program.
The GDYT program is designed to provide high quality, meaningful learning and employment
experiences for youth ages 14 to 24. The program will serve an estimated 8,000 Detroit youth at
hundreds of worksites across the city. Program Monitors will observe program activities in the field and
complete assessments. Program Monitors will be essential to the success of the program and must

possess the following key values: excellence, respect, compassion, honesty, customer-focus, quality-
driven, and the ability to work independently. The Program Monitor position is a full-time, temporary,

contractual position from July through August 2023.

QUALIFICATIONS
– Some college or Bachelor’s degree preferred
– Experience working with youth and/or employment programs preferred
– Demonstrate written, verbal and basic computer skills
– Detail oriented and organized as related to paperwork
– Ability to effectively interact and communicate with youth, parents and public
– Strong customer service skills
– Enjoys working independently and meeting performance goals
– Professional and positive attitude
– Must have reliable transportation
– Must have a mobile phone

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Visit assigned program worksites
– Monitor participants’ work experience
– Monitor site compliance with safety requirements
– Report any issues or violations to proper personnel
– Report youth concerns/issues with worksites, payroll, etc.
– Report worksite concerns with youth attendance, behavior issues, etc.
– Complete site visit logs and site monitoring reports
– Participate in weekly check-in meetings
– Assist with staffing Young Professionals Conference
– Perform other duties as assigned
